The Secret of “One Piece” Now Lies at the Bottom of the Ocean

For more than two decades, fans of the legendary manga and anime One Piece have been asking one burning question: What exactly is the One Piece treasure?

The mystery has driven the story since the very beginning, inspiring countless pirates in the series—and millions of fans around the world—to imagine what the ultimate treasure could be.

Now, the creator of the series, Eiichiro Oda, has taken a fascinating step to safeguard the answer.

Oda Wrote the Answer—And Dropped It Into the Ocean

In a unique and symbolic gesture, Oda reportedly wrote the answer to the question What is the One Piece?” on a piece of paper and sealed it inside a treasure chest.

The chest was then placed inside a pressure-resistant glass sphere and taken out to sea. From there, it was dropped into the ocean and allowed to sink to the seabed.

According to a video shared on the series’ official YouTube channel, the container finally settled 651 meters below the surface—far beyond easy human reach.

A narrator in the video explained that the chest would remain there until the story’s conclusion, emphasizing that it won’t be opened until the entire saga is finished.

For fans, the message is clear: the secret exists—but the world must wait for the story to reveal it naturally.

The Mystery That Drives the Entire Story

At the heart of the story is Monkey D. Luffy, the adventurous captain of the Straw Hat Pirates.

Luffy’s goal is to sail across the dangerous Grand Line and discover the legendary treasure left behind by the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger.

Before his execution, Roger announced to the world that he had hidden a massive treasure called the One Piece, sparking a global race among pirates to find it. That announcement effectively launched the era known as the Great Pirate Age.

Despite more than 25 years of storytelling, the exact nature of the treasure has never been revealed.

However, Oda has confirmed in the past that the One Piece is a real, physical reward—not just a metaphor.

Voice Talent From Connecticut in the English Dub

Although the franchise began in Japan, the English-language versions of the anime and related games feature voice actors from many places—including Connecticut in the United States.

Some notable performers include:

  • Kathleen Delaney – voiced characters such as Alvida and Marine Admiral Hina.

  • David Lapkin – played Baroque Works agents Mr. 4 and Mr. 7.

  • Jim Napolitano – voiced the pirate Carrot in the game One Piece: Grand Battle!.

  • Cassandra Lee Morris – contributed voices for additional characters in the anime.

Their contributions help bring the beloved story to international audiences.

When Will the Mystery Finally Be Solved?

While the treasure’s answer literally exists somewhere at the bottom of the ocean, fans will still have to wait for the official reveal in the manga.

The series, which began in 1997, is now entering its final saga, but creator Eiichiro Oda has not announced an exact ending date yet.

Until then, the secret of the One Piece remains locked away—both in the story and somewhere deep beneath the sea.
