Legendary Creatures and Iconic Lands to Feature in First Licensed Sleeves – Launching Late 2025
MagicCon: Atlanta set the stage for a major announcement in the world of trading card games: Dragon Shield has entered a new licensing partnership with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast (WotC) to create official accessories for Magic: The Gathering, beginning with a series of premium card sleeves launching later this year.
A trusted name in the TCG accessory market, Dragon Shield is known for high-quality products tailored to competitive players and collectors alike. Now, with the backing of WotC, the brand will bring officially licensed Magic: The Gathering sleeves to life—starting with two visually striking product lines that pay homage to Magic’s most iconic lands and legendary creatures.
A Legendary Collaboration
“We're incredibly excited to work with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast,” said Kevin Isaacson, CEO of Collectivus, the parent company of Dragon Shield. “Magic: The Gathering has inspired players for decades, and this collaboration allows us to bring our passion for quality and design to a game and community we deeply admire.”
This multi-year agreement marks a significant step in expanding Magic’s physical presence beyond the tabletop, offering fans new ways to celebrate the lore, aesthetics, and gameplay of the world’s most popular trading card game.
First Look: Two Collector-Focused Series
The first wave of products under this partnership will debut with two distinct sleeve lines:
The Legendary Series

This line showcases iconic legendary creatures from across Magic’s vast history. The debut sleeve will feature The Ur-Dragon, a fan-favorite powerhouse known for commanding respect at the Commander table. The Ur-Dragon sleeve, illustrated by Jaime Jones, will be released in Dragon Shield’s Dual Matte Art format—offering both durability and a striking finish.
The Landfall Series
Celebrating the lands that define Magic’s multiverse, the Landfall Series begins with five showcase-style sleeves featuring the fetchlands from Tarkir: Dragonstorm’s Special Guest variant set. These lands—beloved for both gameplay impact and visual splendor—are illustrated by celebrated artists like Livia Prima and will be rendered in Dragon Shield’s signature high-quality art sleeve design.
Launch Timeline & Exclusive Preview
The first licensed Magic: The Gathering x Dragon Shield accessories will make their debut at MagicCon: Atlanta, offering attendees a first look—and a first chance to purchase. An exclusive “Dracogenesis” sleeve, taken from the Tarkir: Dragonstorm set, will be available at the event to commemorate the launch of this partnership.
Honoring Magic’s Legacy, Enhancing Its Future

“For more than 30 years, Magic: The Gathering has built one of gaming’s most passionate communities,” said Scott Stroud, Chief Marketing Officer at Dragon Shield. “Our collaboration with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast is about celebrating that community—creating accessories that not only protect the game people love but also reflect the stories and legends that bring players together.”
That sentiment was echoed by Rebecca Shepard, Vice President of Franchise at Wizards of the Coast, who added: “Dragon Shield is a trusted name among fans, and this collaboration ensures players can protect the game they love with accessories that celebrate the stories, legends, and artistry that make Magic legendary.”
Final Thoughts
With more than three decades of storytelling, Magic: The Gathering continues to evolve, bringing its legendary worlds and characters into new formats and partnerships. This latest collaboration with Dragon Shield signals a new era for the brand’s physical products—one where accessories are as immersive and high-quality as the game itself.
As the first licensed sleeves roll out, fans can look forward to collecting, protecting, and showcasing their favorite cards with artwork and quality that matches the standard of Magic’s rich heritage.
