HEADLINER CARD

Serialized Emeritus of Ideation: Mark Poole's Ancestral Recall Callback

Emeritus of Ideation is Secrets of Strixhaven's serialized headliner card—a legendary creature that lets you wield Magic's most iconic spell, Ancestral Recall, as long as the creature is prepared. The card features artwork by Mark Poole (the original artist for Ancestral Recall) in a throwback full-art frame that pays homage to promo cards from Magic's early eras.

This version of Emeritus of Ideation is printed in double rainbow foil and appears only in Secrets of Strixhaven Collector Boosters. Serialized versions can appear in Collector Boosters of any language, but the card itself will always be printed in English. Each serialized copy is mechanically identical to non-serialized versions—the serial number is purely collectible.

MYSTICAL ARCHIVE

65 Powerful Reprints: Force of Will, Vampiric Tutor, and More

The Mystical Archive returns in Secrets of Strixhaven with 65 iconic instant and sorcery cards from Magic's history, each featuring an updated card frame that showcases more of the artwork. The Archive includes 25 uncommon, 25 rare, and 15 mythic rare cards, with headliners like:

Force of Will — the quintessential blue counterspell, now with Mystical Archive framing

Vampiric Tutor — one of the most powerful tutors in Magic's history

Subterranean Tremors — board wipe with an X-cost kicker

Every Play Booster includes at least 1 Mystical Archive card (non-foil or traditional foil). Every Collector Booster includes at least 3 Mystical Archive cards, with a mix of English and Japanese versions.

Mystical Archive cards are legal in all formats where they're already legal—opening one in your Secrets of Strixhaven Draft doesn't make it Standard-legal if it wasn't before, but you can play it in that Draft, Sealed, Commander, Legacy, or Vintage.

Japanese Mystical Archive cards take the 65 Archive reprints and give them brand-new artwork and a frame inspired by traditional Japanese artists. These cards are printed only in Japanese and appear in Japanese Play Boosters and Collector Boosters of all languages. Silver scroll foil Japanese Mystical Archive cards—the most collectible treatment in the set—appear only in Collector Boosters.

BOOSTER FUN

Borderless Planeswalkers, Elder Dragons, and Special Guests

Secrets of Strixhaven features a deep lineup of Booster Fun treatments beyond the Mystical Archive:

Borderless planeswalkers and Elder Dragons: 2 mythic rare planeswalkers (including Ral Zarek, Guest Lecturer) and 5 mythic rare Elder Dragons (one for each college) with borderless art. Perfect for Commander players who want their deck's aesthetic to match their college pride.

Borderless dual lands: 5 rare enemy-color dual lands with borderless treatments, each featuring a mysterious portal in the artwork.

Borderless field notes cards: 12 cards (6 rare, 6 mythic rare) depicting in-world notes on Arcavios's creatures, complete with marginalia from Strixhaven scholars.

Special Guests cards: 10 reprints depicting lectures from across Strixhaven University, including Sylvan Library. Non-foil versions appear in Play Boosters; traditional foil versions appear in Collector Boosters.

Full-art spellcraft lands: All five basic lands get full-art treatments, each spotlighting one of the five colleges (Silverquill on Plains, Prismari on Island, Witherbloom on Swamp, Lorehold on Mountain, and Quandrix on Forest).

All borderless treatments are available in both non-foil and traditional foil in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters.

What's in Each Secrets of Strixhaven Product

Play Boosters ($5.49 MSRP) contain 14 Magic cards: 5–6 commons, 3 uncommons, 1 wildcard of any rarity, 1 rare or mythic rare, 1 Mystical Archive card, 1 land (often full-art spellcraft), 1 non-foil token, and 1 card of any rarity that may be foil. Special Guests cards replace a common in 1 out of 55 Play Boosters.

Collector Boosters ($26.99 MSRP) contain 15 Magic cards: at least 3 Mystical Archive cards (including possible Japanese versions and silver scroll foils), multiple borderless treatments, and a guaranteed serialized slot where Emeritus of Ideation can appear. Collector Boosters are the only way to pull serialized cards and silver scroll foil Japanese Mystical Archive cards.

Commander Decks ($49.99 MSRP) are 100-card ready-to-play decks, one for each college: Silverquill Influence (white-black), Prismari Artistry (blue-red), Witherbloom Pestilence (black-green), Lorehold Spirit (red-white), and Quandrix Unlimited (green-blue). Each deck includes 2 traditional foil commanders with borderless art and 10 new-to-Magic cards.

Bundle ($57.99 MSRP) includes 8 Play Boosters, 20 traditional foil lands, 20 non-foil lands, 1 foil promo card, 1 oversized spindown life counter, and a card storage box.

Codex Bundle ($89.99 MSRP, released May 15, 2026) includes 10 Play Boosters, a leather-bound collector's box, and 2 of 6 traditional foil Codex Bundle promo cards (including a Strixhaven-themed Sol Ring and enemy-color Talismans illustrated by Qistina Khalidah).
