Five Foundations Commander Decks Are Coming

$26.99 precons built for new players—five colors, five iconic themes, one great gateway into Commander

Magic: The Gathering is about to make Commander more accessible than ever. Releasing October 2, 2026 alongside Reality Fracture, the Foundations Commander Decks are a set of five 100-card preconstructed decks built from the ground up for players brand new to the format.

At just $26.99 each (or $134.95 for all five), these are the most affordable Commander decks Wizards has ever made — and they're designed to work right out of the box, whether you're introducing a friend to Magic or looking for a clean, casual starting point without the complexity of regular precons.

What's in Each Deck

· 1 foil mythic rare legendary creature (main commander, new artwork)
· 99 regular cards — all original, no reprints
· 10 double-sided token cards
· Cardboard deck box
· Strategy guide + reference card

Every deck is mono-colored and focuses on one of Magic's most iconic themes for its color. They're designed to be beginner-friendly but leave plenty of room to upgrade over time. Here's what's coming.

The Five Decks

Calling All Angels — Foundations Commander Precon deck box

White · Angels

Calling All Angels

Commander: Giada, Font of Hope

The quintessential white Commander experience. This deck floods the board with powerful Angel creatures, with Giada ramping you into your bigger threats while making every Angel that enters even larger. Expect Lyra Dawnbringer, Linvala, the Preserver, and a host of heavenly reinforcements.

Best for: players who like fair, powerful creatures and beautiful card art.

Blue · Artifacts & Thopters

Keen Engineering

Commander: Sai, Master Thopterist

Deploy artifact after artifact, generate a swarm of Thopter tokens, and convert your board into card advantage — all with Sai pulling the strings. This is Blue's signature artifact-based strategy at its most accessible, with a clear upgrade path if you want to push it further.

Best for: players who like layered strategies and lots of decisions.

Wretched Ranks — Foundations Commander Precon deck box

Black · Zombies & Sacrifice

Wretched Ranks

Commander: Ghoulcaller Gisa

Zombies are hard to kill — and in this deck, dying is the point. Gisa sacrifices your undead to create even more Zombie tokens, generating an ever-growing horde of threats. The sacrifice synergies give this deck an addictive flow: trade cheap creatures for powerful effects, rinse, repeat.

Best for: players who enjoy resource trading and a resilient, value-driven game plan.

Red · Dragons & Treasures

Reign of Dragons

Commander: Lathliss, Dragon Queen

Go big or go home. Lathliss rewards you for casting Dragon after Dragon — each one creates an additional 5/5 Dragon token and powers up your whole flight. Treasure tokens accelerate your ramp so you can drop enormous flying creatures ahead of schedule. Pure, satisfying escalation.

Best for: players who want big, flashy moments and an aggressive game plan.

Reign of Dragons — Foundations Commander Precon deck box
Tramplesaurus Rex — Foundations Commander Precon deck box

Green · Dinosaurs

Tramplesaurus Rex

Commander: Ghalta, Primal Hunger

Ramp into the biggest creatures in the game and crash through for massive damage. Ghalta, Primal Hunger, is the crown jewel—a 12/12 trampler that can cost as little as two mana when your board is already full of power. This deck is straightforward and punishing, and it's absolutely enormous fun.

Best for: players who want simple, overwhelming power and big game-ending turns.

Deck Name Color Commander Theme
