Reality Fracture introduces the Echoverse, an alternate Multiverse where Magic's familiar characters and planes exist in twisted, parallel forms. The set releases October 2, 2026, with Prerelease events September 25–October 1 and MTG Arena availability on September 29.

Wizards of the Coast draws inspiration from Secrets of Strixhaven, bringing back the Prepare mechanic alongside two new mechanics: Empower Jace and Heartwood tokens. Collector Boosters chase the serialized Bloodline Recollector (500 copies, double rainbow foil, art by Mark Poole, the original Ancestral Recall artist) and a panorama of portal view dual lands that depict Hexhaven cadets looking back at their Strixhaven counterparts.

Three Mechanics Define the Echoverse

Empower Jace is the signature mechanic of Reality Fracture. If you control a Jace planeswalker token, put the stated number of loyalty counters on it; otherwise create a blue Jace planeswalker token with 0 loyalty, then add the counters. The token has "−1: Surveil 1" and "−3: Draw a card." Example cards include Protege's Awakening, Aerid Konstrari, Pompous Battlemage, and Stingerquill Voxmancer.

Heartwood tokens are red and green artifact tokens that tap to add R or G — ramp in Gruul colours.

Prepare returns from Secrets of Strixhaven. If a creature with a prepare spell becomes prepared, a copy of its prepare spell appears in exile and stays until cast, until the creature leaves, or until it becomes unprepared. Wizards cites Strixhaven as direct design inspiration for this set.

The Strixhaven Connection

Reality Fracture builds on themes Wizards introduced in Secrets of Strixhaven. The Prepare mechanic returns, and the serialized chase card Bloodline Recollector mirrors the headliner from that set — 500 copies in double rainbow foil, illustrated by Mark Poole, the artist behind the original Ancestral Recall.

What's in a Play Booster?

Each Play Booster (14 cards) contains 5–6 commons, 1 uncommon, 1 common/uncommon slot, 3 echoed pairs cards (Multiverse vs Echoverse versions of the same card), 1 rare or mythic, 1 traditional foil, and 1 land.

Each Collector Booster (15 cards) contains 4 foil commons, 2 foil uncommons, 3 foil uncommon echoed pairs, 1 foil land, 1 foil rare/mythic, 3 non-foil rare/mythic Booster Fun cards, 1 foil rare/mythic Booster Fun card, and 1 art card or token.

Chase Treatments and Showcase Cards

Echoed pairs appear in two versions — Multiverse and Echoverse — with 66 uncommons, 14 rares, and 6 mythics. Borderless echoed pairs and shattered mirror cards (5 rares, 8 mythics, with facet foil variants) offer premium treatments.

The set also includes a 10-card Special Guests panorama illustrated by Marina Banker, 10 Japan Showcase cards, the Braintwister series, Sculptor's Stronghold cards, and 15 "tower" basic lands that form a vertical panorama.

The serialized Bloodline Recollector (500 copies, double rainbow foil, Collector Booster exclusive) is the headliner chase card.
