Space Marines GW Pre-Orders Games Workshop Paints & Hobby
Games Workshop just dropped some of the biggest Space Marines news in years. When Codex: Space Marines lands this October, your basic battle-brothers stop feeling basic. Combat knives, chainswords, and bolt pistols all jump to Strength 5. Intercessor bolt rifles get two fire modes — one at Strength 5, one at a frankly rude Strength 6. And anyone wearing Tacticus plate moves up to Toughness 5.
Phobos-armoured troops stay Toughness 4 but speed up to an 8-inch move, perfect for grabbing objectives and bullying isolated units. The trade-off? Points are going up across the board, so armies get smaller and every model matters more — elite strike forces, just like the lore always promised.
Heretic Astartes and Codex-divergent Chapters get matching boosts, and everything updates automatically in the Warhammer 40,000 app when the codex launches. But the biggest shake-up is what's leaving the book…

Which Units Are Leaving the Codex?
Don't panic — nothing on your shelf becomes unplayable. Units leaving the codex fall into two camps. Legendary Proxies keep fighting using the rules of a comparable unit, and Warhammer Legends units keep their own rules, delivered through the 40K app alongside the codex. Both are welcome at home, in stores (including our tables!), clubs, and campaigns — competitive events need organiser approval.

Last Call: Classic Kits Heading to Legends
These kits are leaving the codex — and once GW stops producing them, they're gone. If a classic Razorback or an old-school Tactical Squad belongs in your collection (or your display cabinet), now is the moment. Our remaining stock is genuinely the last of it.
The New Backbone: Kits That Just Got Better
Every one of these units gets stronger in October — and the Proxy rules make them doubly useful. Intercessors now stand in for Tactical Squads, Desolation Squads for Devastators, and Inceptors for Suppressors, all while sporting those shiny new stat lines. Meanwhile the Redemptor and Brutalis carry the Dreadnought torch forward.

What this means for your army Your existing models stay playable — Legends and Proxy rules land in the 40K app the same day as the codex. But with points going up, you may need fewer models to hit your usual game size, which makes October the perfect time to focus on quality: a fresh Intercessor squad, a centerpiece Dreadnought, or finally painting that unit you've been putting off.
