Monster Fight Club Snowy Hills — pre-painted, table-ready, and modular.

You've got your StarCraft Tabletop Miniatures Game starter. The Terrans and Zerg are assembled. Now you need a battlefield that looks like it belongs in the Koprulu Sector — or a frozen moon, or an industrial mining colony, or a planet studded with alien crystals.

Monster Fight Club makes pre-painted, modular terrain that's table-ready out of the box. No assembly, no priming, no painting — just open the pack, drop it on the table, and play. It's designed for sci-fi skirmish games like StarCraft, Warhammer 40,000, and Necromunda, and it works just as well for homebrew campaigns and one-off scenarios.

Here's how to pick terrain that suits your table, your theme, and your budget — and a few starter combinations to get you going.

Why Terrain Matters

A Better Game on a Better-Looking Table

Terrain changes everything. It blocks line of sight, creates tactical choke points, and gives your units something to hide behind (or die spectacularly next to). A bare table with a few dice as "cover" works for learning the rules, but once you know what you're doing, terrain makes the game.

Pre-painted terrain gets you there faster. You don't need to commit a weekend to assembly and painting — you can build a full 3x3 or 4x4 table in an afternoon, spend Sunday playing on it, and still have time to make dinner.

Monster Fight Club's modular sets are built for this. Each piece is durable, stackable, and designed to work with other sets in the line. Buy one pack now, add another in two months, and the palette stays consistent.

Industrial Base: Cargo Depots & Supply Lines

If your table is an industrial colony, a supply depot under siege, or a Terran mining outpost, Industrial Cargo is your foundation. Big, blocky crates and supply containers — the kind that block line of sight, create natural cover lanes, and look like they're full of SCV parts or vespene reserves.

This set pairs well with any industrial or urban terrain you already own. Stack it, scatter it, use it as objectives ("secure the supply cache") or just as line-of-sight blocking obstacles. It's also great for Warhammer 40,000 industrial zones, Necromunda underhive raids, and sci-fi RPG encounters.

Theme 2

Ice Wilds: Frozen Worlds & Hostile Terrain

Frozen moons. Tundra battlefields. The kind of planet where visibility is endless and cover is everything. Monster Fight Club's Ice Wilds line gives you snowy hills and frosted pine forests — pre-painted in whites, greys, and icy blues that look cold even under warm game-room lighting.

Snowy Hills are your line-of-sight blockers and elevation pieces. Use them to create ridges, firing positions, and dead zones where your infantry can advance without getting shredded by ranged fire. The Snowy Pine Forest adds area terrain — woods that provide cover and slow movement, perfect for ambushes or defensive positions.

Buy one of each to start, or grab the Snowy Hills pack of two if you want to build a ridge line across the centre of the table. The Ice Wilds palette is consistent across all three sets, so you can mix and match without the table looking patchy.

Alien Crystal Fields: Protoss Energy Nodes & Xel'Naga Ruins

If your battlefield is a Protoss shrine world, a planet rich in psionic crystals, or just a strange place where the ground glows purple, Amethyst Crystals are your signature terrain piece. Clusters of translucent purple crystals, pre-painted and based, that look like they're humming with energy.

Use them as objectives ("secure the psionic node"), area terrain (difficult ground that slows movement), or just as visual anchors that make your table feel alien. They work especially well on industrial or frozen tables where you want one or two pieces that say this place is not normal.

Amethyst Crystals are also great for Magic: The Gathering skirmish games (mana nodes), sci-fi RPG encounters ("the crystal is reacting to your presence"), and 40,000 Necron tomb worlds.

A Starter Table: What to Buy First

If you're building your first sci-fi table from scratch and you want it to look cohesive, here's a solid starting point:

Frozen World Table: Two packs of Snowy Hills (or the pack of 2), one Snowy Pine Forest, and one Amethyst Crystals set. You'll have elevation, area terrain, cover, and a focal point. Total footprint: enough for a 3x3 or small 4x4 table.

Industrial Outpost Table: One Industrial Cargo, one Snowy Hills (even industrial bases get weather), and one Amethyst Crystals for the objective. Lean, modular, and easy to expand.

Both combinations are pre-painted, so setup is five minutes. Add more later as your collection (and your table size) grows.

Bonus

Cyberpunk Red Combat Zone: A Fast Second Game for Your Table

If you like skirmish games and you want something fast, narrative, and set in a completely different genre, Monster Fight Club also makes Cyberpunk Red: Combat Zone — a miniatures skirmish game set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. Gangs, megacorps, street mercs, and chrome.

The game uses the same pre-painted miniatures philosophy as the terrain: buy a faction starter, open the box, and play. Games run 30–60 minutes, the rules are tight, and the factions have very different playstyles. Lawmen play like tactical police. Edgerunners are fast, scrappy mercs. Arasaka is corpo precision. Maelstrom is cyberpsycho chaos.

If you've already got Industrial Cargo on the table, you've got half a Cyberpunk battlefield. Add a few more urban scatter pieces and you're ready for Night City firefights between your StarCraft sessions.
