What is in a One Piece Starter Deck, and who is it for?

Short answer A Starter Deck is a complete, ready-to-play deck built around one Leader. It is the best first purchase for a new player. |
Every game needs one Leader card, a 50-card deck and 10 DON!! cards, according to the official play guide. A standard Starter Deck gives you exactly that: the official product page for a typical ST deck lists a 51-card constructed deck (Leader included), 10 DON!! cards and a playsheet, and standard ST decks like ST-23 and ST-26 also add one booster pack. Some starter products, like the Starter Deck EX line, add a small bonus pack instead.
Want to play with a friend right away? Official two-player and multi-deck sets exist too. For example, the Set Sail Deck Set (SD-01) lists two constructed decks, an OP-17 booster pack, a two-player playsheet, guide books and two deck cases, and the Learn Together Deck Set lists three constructed decks with deck cases, extra card packs and guide books. Contents are set by the publisher and vary, so check each product page.

What is a One Piece booster box, and should I buy one?

Short answer A main-set (OP) booster box is a sealed case of booster packs, typically 24, from one numbered set. It is the classic choice for competitive players and dedicated deck builders. |
Main sets are numbered OP-01, OP-02 and so on. Each one introduces new Leaders and a pool that runs roughly 120 to 130+ card types: OP-13, for example, is listed officially at 133+1 card types across Leaders, Commons, Uncommons, Rares, Super Rares, Secret Rares and special cards. Packs are randomized, so you may pull duplicates and a full set can be hard to assemble. Official pricing for recent boosters has been about $4.99 per pack, and English packs typically hold around a dozen cards.
A box is the most efficient way to open a lot of a set at once: you see more of the card pool and share the extras with your playgroup. Main-set boxes are heavily allocated across the whole industry, so stock is limited everywhere and can change quickly. What is an Extra Booster (EB), and how is it different from a main set?

EB sets sit between main releases. EB-02 (Anime 25th Collection), for example, lists 87 card types compared with 133+1 in OP-13, and its official description highlights new illustrations and a new Luffy Leader. Official pricing for recent EB packs has been about $4.99 per pack. Because the pool is smaller, it is easier to chase a full set, which makes EB boxes popular with collectors. What is a Premium Booster, and what are gift and collection sets?

Premium Boosters (PRB) are the collector-friendly tier. The official PRB-01 page lists 111+30 card types, including 30 DON!! cards, and describes many popular cards from earlier boosters returning with new illustrations. PRB-02 is described as guaranteeing at least one Super Rare or better in every pack, with official pricing of $5.49 per pack. A Premium Booster box is typically 20 packs.
Gift and collection sets vary widely. One official card collection lists just three promo cards, while a larger official set lists a promo card, ten promo DON!! cards, 70 sleeves, a playmat and a storage box. Because contents change from set to set, read each product page before you buy, especially when giving one as a gift.
