DISNEY LORCANA: INTO THE INKDARK

Collector Boosters Are Coming

An accidental leak, an official response, and what it means for Illumineers
Big news is stirring in the Illumineer community this week — and it started with an oops.
Packaging art for a brand-new product type called the Collector Booster briefly appeared on the official Lorcana website before being quietly pulled. The image showed packaging tied to Into the Inkdark, the villain-heavy Set 15 slated for Q1 2027. Within hours, Team Lorcana issued an official Discord statement addressing the leak directly.

What Ravensburger Said

"We have no intention of detracting from the Booster Pack experience fans have loved with Wilds Unknown, and aim to only improve this experience as future sets and products release." — Team Lorcana, Official Discord Statement

Full details are being held for a proper announcement "later this summer." The speed of that response — and the deliberate language around protecting the regular booster experience — tells us Ravensburger knows exactly what the community's concern is.

What "Collector Booster" Actually Means

If you play Magic: The Gathering, this term is already in your vocabulary. In MTG, Collector Boosters are premium packs: higher price point, guaranteed foils, rare alternate-art treatments, and better hit rates on chase cards. They exist alongside regular boosters — not instead of them.
That MTG blueprint is almost certainly the model Ravensburger is working from. And the one question the community is already asking loudly:
The key question: Will any cards be exclusive to collector boosters—or will everything still be pullable from regular packs?
We don't have an answer yet. Ravensburger's statement directly addressing the booster experience suggests they're aware that card exclusivity is the line they cannot cross without serious backlash.

What's Coming Before We Get There

Into the Inkdark is still two full sets away. Here's the road ahead:

Set Name Date Notes
Set 13 Attack of the Vine July 2026 Monsters Inc., Up & Turning Red debut. Temporary Shift mechanic, multi-ink Hunny decks.
Set 14 Hyperia City October 2026 Coco joins the roster. Prerelease Oct 16, wide release Oct 23.
✦ Set 15 Into the Inkdark Q1 2027 Villains theme, Hades front and center. Onward debut. First set with Collector Boosters.

Our Take

Cautiously excited—and we think that's the right read. A well-executed Collector Booster is genuinely good for the game: a dedicated premium product for hardcore collectors without diluting the regular pack experience for everyone else.
Ravensburger's track record with Lorcana gives us reason to trust them. The details that matter most to us: price point, exclusivity, and LGS allocation. We'll be watching the summer announcement closely.
Heads up for collectors and investors: If Collector Boosters follow the MTG model, they'll be limited-quantity and move fast at launch. Sign up for our newsletter or follow us on socials—we'll post the moment Ravensburger drops the full reveal so you can plan your order.
Stay glimmering, Illumineers. More news when we have it.
