The Cosmere RPG brings Brandon Sanderson's epic Stormlight Archive to the tabletop. It's a new system built by Brotherwise Games (the team behind Boss Monster and Call to Adventure) that leans into the magic, culture, and high-stakes drama of Roshar. If you've read the books, you already know the stakes. If you're coming from D&D or another system, this is your chance to try something built around oaths, spren bonds, and storms that reshape the world.
We've been fielding the same question since launch: where do I start? The answer depends on whether you're a player dipping a toe in, a GM planning a campaign, or a Sanderson completist who wants it all. Here's the path we recommend at the counter.

New to Roshar?
Start Here: The Path from First Session to CampaignIf you've never played the Cosmere RPG before, the Starter Set is the cleanest entry point. It includes simplified rules, pre-generated characters, a short introductory adventure, dice, tokens, and maps — everything you need for a first session without committing to the full system. It's $22.49, which is less than a hardcover rulebook and gets four to six players to the table tonight. Once you know you're in, grab the Handbook and the World Guide. The Handbook is the core rulebook: character creation, the full magic system (Surgebinding, spren bonds, and more), combat, and advancement. The World Guide is Roshar itself — factions, history, locations, NPCs, and the context that makes a Cosmere campaign feel like a Cosmere campaign. You need both if you're running a long game. After that, it's adventures. The First Step and Bridge Nine are short modules you can drop into a campaign or run as one-shots. Stonewalkers is a full 128-page hardcover adventure that takes a party from street level to world-shaking stakes. If you're a GM who likes a published path, Stonewalkers is the tentpole. |
